Ann’s paintings are inspired by things she loves, whether vibrant flowers or rusty barns they are objects, people, or places that bring her a sense of joy or inspiration. She loves color and often finds herself focusing on the play of color and light within a subject. Enjoying the brilliance, transparency and flow of watercolor, she also finds that the paint has a strong will and often helps direct the creation of a piece.
Though her art major was meant as an avenue to teaching secondary art, her career veered in another direction. Destiny led her and her family to a life in the Foreign Service with postings in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and Italy. During that time she taught many subjects, always seeking to incorporate art into the curriculum to enhance student learning through the arts.
Now after 25 years of teaching, raising three children and settling in Southern Maryland, she has returned to her art, with watercolor now her passion.
